Job Description: The University of Nevada, Reno is currently accepting applications for the administrative faculty position of Outreach and Retention Coordinator in the Center for Student Cultural Diversity (The Center), which is part of the Student Services Division. The position is located in Reno, Nevada and holds a special focus supporting American Indian students pursuing a college degree. Under the supervision of the director, the outreach and retention coordinator provides services that are designed to prepare students for success beyond high school; and through a variety of support activities, increase their opportunities for admission to the University of Nevada, Reno. The outreach and retention coordinator works closely with elementary, middle, and high school personnel, community agency personnel, and parents regarding program services. The coordinator develops and provides information to student participants and their parents related to college admission requirements, scholarship opportunities and the Federal financial aid application processes in individual and group settings. The position coordinates the Start Thinking About College (STAC) Adopt-A-School, College Shadowing Day and Center Youth Summit programs. Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and two years of experience in an academic or community service setting working with a diverse student population. The candidate must demonstrate experience working with a diverse student population, which includes both high school and college students. Preferred Qualifications: -Master=92s degree and one year of professional experience. -Demonstrated effective communication skills, including excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. -Strong organizational, assessment, computer, presentation and problem-solving skills. -The ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the Reno/Sparks community, on a college/university campus, as well as, demonstrated experience working with American Indian student populations.
