UC Irvine Career Center Counselor Intern Position 2012-2013

The UC Irvine Career Center is currently accepting applications for a field site (nonpaid) position. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program with a career emphasis or related field, i.e. Higher Education/Student Affairs or Counseling. Candidates having experience and skills working with diverse populations are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Knowledge of:
·current career development theory and practice
 · resources available for obtaining career and occupational information
 · counseling theory
 · career assessment instruments

Experience with the following is desirable:
· college level individual and/or group counseling a diverse student population  

Field Site Responsibilities
The field site will provide the opportunity to deliver:
 · individual counseling for students and alumni
 · career development workshops
 · employment related workshops including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job search
 · outreach services to the UCI community

The field placement program strives to provide an experience for each graduate intern that will most closely reflect his/her interests and training needs. The field placement supervisor will provide one hour a week of individual supervision.

 Description of Field Site
UC Irvine is a multicultural campus with ethnic minority students constituting 65% of the student body population. The Career Center is committed to assisting UCI students as they address the many factors involved in making their career choices. The Center provides students with career employment and job search assistance, career workshops, assessment instruments, and individual counseling.
