The Institute of International Education (IIE), Office for Latin America, announces the position of “EducationUSA Advisor” working in Mexico City.
The EducationUSA Advisor will be responsible for the daily management of the advising center to ensure efficient and effective delivery of educational advising services, promote U.S. higher education, reach out to prospective student audiences, and liaise with institutions of higher education to increase student mobility between the United States and Mexico.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Educational experience at a college or university in the United States required (minimum a 6 months study abroad program at an accredited US institution).
• 2 years of professional experience in educational administration, international education, international affairs, study abroad or other relevant area.
• Experience with student advising.
• Native Spanish speaker and highly proficient/fluent in spoken and written English. Strong intercultural communication skills.
• Ability to describe and compare U.S. and Mexican educational systems. Familiarity with the various systems in each country as to better understand and compare opportunities for students in different institutions.
• Public speaking skills are essential
• Must be able to respond to quickly changing priorities with a high volume work load.
• Detail oriented.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010, social media, email, internet applications and database software.
• Maintains high levels of confidentiality. Uses care and discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
