Scholars is currently looking for two (2) Part-time Graduate Interns for
the 2012-13 Academic Year. (August
2012 June 2013)
ABOUT RENAISSANCE SCHOLARS:
Launched in 2002, Renaissance Scholars is a
comprehensive on-campus support service program at Cal Poly Pomona that
assists former foster youth as they attend one of the nation's finest
universities to successfully complete a bachelor's degree. The
program's purpose is to empower former foster youth through higher
education. On average the program serves about 40-50 scholars. The program
encourages and supports the academic and personal pursuits of its
scholars by providing educational enrichment opportunities,
financial assistance, tutoring, academic and personal advising among a
myriad of other services to ensure success at the university.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under direct supervision of the Renaissance Scholars
staff the RS Graduate Intern will meet regularly with an assigned
group of students in the Renaissance Scholars program; track their
academic, assist in the development & coordination of the RS Peer
Mentoring program; create personal & professional development training
curriculum for peer mentors, assist with maintenance of student files;
keep record of individual advising contacts, referrals, and
follow-up activities for reporting and evaluation, support the planning and
facilitation of the First Year and Senior Seminar workshops; follow up
with students who miss a session; and assist in data collection for
program assessment. This position will also participate in the
coordination a group community service project for Fall 2012, provide
support with existing RS projects, assist with outreach & recruitment
for program application/admission process for 2013, assist with
ongoing assessment & development projects for Renaissance Scholars,
& aid in the development and facilitation a new RS projects.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Currently enrolled in a Master's program with an
emphasis in Student Development/Higher Education, Counseling, or related
degree. Must be skilled with using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have
experience in collaborating with diverse groups of students, staff
& faculty.
SALARY: $15.00/hr
SCHEDULE:
15 hrs/week for the months of August 15, 2012 - June
14, 2013.
Occasional evenings & weekends required.

facilitation of the First Year and Senior Seminar workshops; follow up
with students who miss a session; and assist in data collection for
program assessment. This position will also participate in the
