Learning Assistant:
At the USC Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity (USC KCLC) our focus is to help students assess their individual learning style in an effort to develop tools that match student’s strengths. The KCLC Learning Assistance Program is designed to help students develop an ability to look inward, identify needs, and articulate a solution to the problem.
Learning Assistants meet individually with students twice per week. In these sessions, Learning Assistants guide students through the steps of attending to details, planning, organizing, and prioritizing personal goals. Learning Assistants help students create their own action plans by identifying deadlines and priorities for the week. Learning Assistants also are available to help students discover specific study skill strategies.
Qualified applicants should have academic mentoring and/or tutoring experience, possess a strong willingness to help others learn; and ability to effectively teach peers in study skills, time management, and organizational skills.
Preference given to candidates who can make at least a 1-year (2-semester) commitment. Must be available to work 10-15 hours a week. Compensation: $13 per hour. Start date: Mid-August.
