Program Description:
The primary responsibility of the Academic and Student Services (AS2) Intern is to serve as an academic mentor. AS2 Interns are responsible for the development, administration, and evaluation of the academic support programs provided to their assigned student-athletes. The program emphasizes early identification of academic concerns, fosters academic accountability, and monitors student-athletes’ academic and personal transition to a competitive university environment. Additionally, AS2 Interns will be responsible for working jointly with relevant constituent groups and individuals in the coordination of skills development and services for student-athletes.
The internship program is a professional practice experience that provides interns with an opportunity to develop first-hand knowledge of academic support services for student-athletes and gain significant hands-on experience in program development, mentoring, and athletics administration. Interns receive valuable feedback on their development and demonstration of essential professional skills.
