The Master's Office is glad to announce its Fall Writing Seminars. The seminar topics this semester have been selected to best prepare students entering into their masters programs:
Introduction to Graduate Writing
· Writing as a multi-step process
· Techniques for self-editing & revision
· Common grammar & mechanics errors
· Comma usage
· Passive vs. active voice
· Grammatical person
APA Style & Quotation Usage
· APA formatting of quotes
· APA citations
· Miscellaneous APA rules
· What constitutes plagiarism at the university level, and how to avoid it
· Direct quotation vs. paraphrasing
· Integrating quotes into your own work
Intro to Graduate Writing will be offered Monday, Oct 3 (3-4pm); and Tuesday, Oct 4 (3-4pm)
Quotation Usage & APA Style will be offered Monday, Sept 12 (3-4pm); and Tuesday Sept 13 (3-4pm).
You need to attend only ONE session of each seminar (the content of the Monday and Tuesday seminars will be identical; they are offered on two separate days purely for students' convenience).
