J-1 Program Assistant (graduate student position)
The J-1 Program Assistant supports the J-1 Exchange Visitor program team in providing services to our J-1 scholar and student populations. Applicants should have a strong interest in international education and the ability to effectively communicate with persons of diverse languages and cultural backgrounds. Prior experience working in an office environment is helpful, and strong attention to detail is essential.
Duties include:
• Processing DS-2019 applications and maintaining J-1 files
• Processing requisition payments from sponsoring departments
• Responding to questions from Exchange Visitors and department representatives regarding J-1 issues via phone and email
• Helping to plan and coordinate events
• Compiling data on the J-1 program
• Completing other tasks as necessary
This is a part-time position scheduled for the Spring 2012 semester, with a possibility of contract renewal based upon performance. The J-1 Program Assistant will work 20 hours per week and be compensated at a rate of $15/hr.
