Due to growth, one of our most impressive programs, Upward Bound, is seeking Educational Advisors for new sites located in the Los Angele areas. Upward Bound is a program that provides assistance and support to bright, needy young people to ensure that they attend college to help become the successful adults they are meant to be.
To qualify for this position, our ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in a related field, or have a combination of education (Bachelor’s degree minimum) and additional related work experience. Field experience in Upward Bound, Talent Search or other TRIO program is a must. Two or more years' experience of student advising experience also desired. In order to work with the community, bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are also required.
Must be able to work and communicate effectively and compassionately with the community being served, and be able to work equally effectively with the students' families as well as high school and college personnel. Sensitivity to overcoming such issues/barriers similar to those of the students in the project, with the ability to empathize and relate with the students, also needed.
