Dear Directors of School Counseling Programs in the OC and LA Area,
My name is Joseph Elizondo. I am currently the Graduate Student
Representative of OC CASC (http://www.occasc.com/AboutUS.html).
I am writing you to you today because as the Graduate Student
Representative, I understand the positive impact being a part of OC
CASC can have on a counseling program. OC CASC has opened a lot of
doors for me as a future school counselor, has been a great source of
community resources, and has helped me become an active part in both
the recent CASC conference and other counseling events.
I encourage you to let your students know about OC CASC. Feel free to
share my email with anyone who may have questions. The organization
meets about once every month and each meeting hosts a new guest
speaker which in the past has included resources for working with
suicide in schools, resources for pregnant students, and various other
programs, resources, and tools that I have found very helpful as an
intern.
I know that for some of you, getting to the meetings in Orange County
could be difficult, so I would like to also emphasize that one student
can attend the meetings and bring the information back to his or her
classmates. This system has been working well with my cohort. Of
course, university representatives are invited to attend our meetings
as well.
Thank you for your time. As mentioned before, if you have any
questions about OC CASC, please feel free to email me. You can also
visit our website at http://www.occasc.com.
Thank you again,
Joseph Elizondo
Graduate Student Representative
