Job Overview

The USC Rossier School of Education is seeking a candidate for the role of Research Coordinator. The candidate will be working in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Partnerships and Globalization under the direction of Assistant Dean for Research. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of Rossier School Research Office activities but not limited to special projects, Research lecture series, events, visitors and Research electronic newsletter. The coordinator will also be responsible for procurement, travel reimbursements and expense reimbursements for the Research Office and maintain and reconcile monthly expenditures and budgets within fiscal compliance to both university and federal government policies. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for scheduling for the Research office events and meetings. The Research Coordinator will also assist in providing administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Research as necessary. The Research Coordinator will also be responsible for supervision of work study students. Working with the Assistant Dean for Research, the Research Coordinator will help to strategize research and assist various Rossier faculty and Research Centers by assisting in the identification of key funding opportunities and assistance with development of funding proposals and submissions as needed.

The Research Coordinator will also work with various entities in the Rossier School and University including but not limited to individual Rossier Faculty, Research Centers, the Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Partnerships, and Globalization, the Office of Advancement, the Office of the Chief of Staff, Academic Programs, Faculty Affairs, Events and Communications, Contracts and Grants, Research Compliance, and Purchasing to coordinate and assist in management of the Research Office activities. The position is a non- exempt position and will require a valid California Driver’s License and travel to events and meetings as needed. The position is a fixed term basis and will be reviewed and renewed on an annual basis.

The pay will be commensurate with experience, within the range of $50,000- $55,000 per year plus full benefits.

Skills and Tasks Required

· Maintain departmental budget, reconciliation of departmental and grant accounts and monthly financial reports to the Assistant Dean for Research;

· Coordinate research activities and events for a diverse group of constituents including but not limited to faculty within Rossier and across the university, international and visiting scholars, community partners and funding agency representatives;

· Assist the Assistant Dean for Research in planning for the the identification, cultivation and implementation of financial fundraising strategy for the School including cultivation of donors, applying for federal and foundational extramural funding and sponsorships;

· Assist in the development, editing and submission of large scale school-wide research proposals to government and private funding agencies.

· In conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Research oversee other Research departmental staff and works study students;

· Facilitate event planning and operations for workshops, high level conferences, lectures and visiting scholars;

· Manage dissemination of bi-weekly research newsletters and coordinate with Rossier’s Communications Office on Research publications and public presentations;

· Act on behalf of the Assistant Dean for Research during public presentations or events as a representative of the center when necessary;

· Help oversee and manage reporting requirements for the department and respond to requests from the sponsoring agencies or project partners.

· Strong writing and verbal skills to draft and edit research proposal and office correspondence for a diverse professional and academic audience

· Strong skills in web-technology and online media.

· Valid California Driver’s License

· Perform other duties as assigned
