Dear All,
USC Educational Talent Search is hosting its third Annual Women’s Empowerment Conference “Empowering Through Sisterhood.” This year’s conference will be on Friday, April 27th from 8:00am-4:00pm here on campus in various buildings.
Our participating high schools include: 32nd Street / USC MAST, Animo Watts, Belmont, Foshay, Jordan, Locke, Manual Arts, South East and West Adams High School.
Girls will come to USC to take part in empowering workshops and awesome activities that promote positive mental health, bonding activities, positive self-image, self-esteem and other important topics relevant to girls.
College students (undergraduate/graduate) are needed to help with registration, breakfast, and lunch. Aside from performing minimal physical work, the primary duty of the student volunteers is to bond and share their experience as a college student. Our objective is to expose the girls to higher education and provide them with firsthand experience and resources. Unfortunately, the majority of the girls consider college as an unreachable dream. Connecting them with current college students will diminish some fears and misconceptions these girls have of post-secondary education. This is a great chance to reach and empower girls in our community.
