The USC Gould School of Law Graduate &
International Programs office is seeking a part-time (15 hours/week) Graduate
Assistant for the Fall 2012 semester. The position will pay $13/hour and will
preferably begin on August 1, 2012. Responsibilities will include assisting
student services staff with new incoming international law students and
exchange students – approximately 150 students from around 30 different
countries. The department also manages 5 semester abroad programs for USC JD
students. The Graduate Assistant should be interested in working with the
international student population and preferably have some knowledge of campus
resources. The position will provide a good opportunity for a graduate student
to interact with international students and learn about international higher
education.
Student services:
--Assist at international law student
orientation on August 20 and 21 and exchange student orientation on August 23.
--Help staff to answer new students’
questions related to campus services, housing, drivers licenses, etc.
--Assist with projects related to JD study
abroad programs.
Events:
--Assist staff with organization of student
events; attend when possible.
--Help with coordination of Academic Support,
Early Bar Prep, and other workshops.
Recruitment assistance:
--Research prospective law students and
attorneys in countries where fall recruiting will take place.
--Research law schools in countries to be visited;
send promotional materials.
--Help to compile alumni who will assist at
international info sessions and attend alumni dinners.
