Careers in Student Affairs Month

For the month of October, NASPA has a unique opportunity to invest in the future of our profession by celebrating Careers in Student Affairs Month (CSAM). As you know, a career in student affairs is an unknown option to students as they enter college. It is not until they experience exciting learning opportunities organized by student affairs staff and get to know the diverse and gifted persons who comprise our profession that they consider whether the field might have promise for them personally. Each of us has the responsibility to seek out the most promising leaders at our campuses to talk with them about investigating student affairs as a potentially viable and rewarding career for them. NASPA is hosting four webinars in the month of October to help facilitate this learning. These webinars are open to our entire profession, regardless of NASPA membership.

NASPA hopes you take a look at the career tab on the website, which provides other suggestions for how to celebrate CSAM. If you are on Twitter, use the hashtag #CSAM to talk about the month, and feel free to share what programs you are coordinating on the CSAM Facebook Event Page. Also, we are giving an opportunity for members to highlight what programs they are sponsoring on their campus. Let us know more about your event by emailing staff member Nathan Victoria at nvictoria@naspa.org. Finally, make sure to highlight the ways undergraduates can get involved in NASPA, whether through NUFP, whose applications have a priority deadline of September 27th, with a final deadline of October 30th, or as an undergraduate member if you know students who are already committed to a career in student affairs.
