Counseling Services invites applications for 2 (two) Case Managers (Full-time, 12-month, Temporary Lecturer with anticipated annual renewal*)--one crisis focus and one referral focus.
Case Manager’s General Job Duties for both positions: In collaboration with the Associate Director of Counseling Services, the Case Managers will provide case management, intake/diagnostic assessment, symptom management groups, brief counseling services when appropriate, and referrals for students whose emotional challenges, behavioral difficulties, limited resources, or chronic mental health conditions impact their ability to function/succeed academically. Case managers may carry a moderate therapy case load in addition to case management duties. These positions require excellence in clinical case management service delivery including crisis coverage and emergency intervention (including hospitalization), the facilitation of on-campus and external referrals, treatment planning and coordination of care, and serving in the university’s behavioral intervention team in collaboration with the Associate Director. Duties also include clinical services in the form of serving as a resource to university offices in an effort to enhance student life, consultation and outreach services (i.e., psycho-educational programs) to various constituencies on campus (e.g., student organizations, faculty and staff), and assisting with training seminars for pre and post-doctoral trainees. Some evening and weekend hours will be required to monitor the after-hours phone crisis hotline.
Case Manager--Crisis Focus: In addition to the above general job duties, the Case Manager for Crisis Prevention and Intervention will serve as the designated counselor for the Depression/Suicide Risk Interactive Screening Program (ISP), a web based prevention tool. Duties include suicide prevention and resiliency training, collaborating with health educators focused on peer-to-peer outreach, assessing student responses, writing electronic responses, communicating with students online, conducting in-person evaluations, making referrals and assisting students in their transition to treatment, as needed. This case manager will collaborate with the Associate Director in ensuring smooth transition from crisis intervention to case management, and to transition students back into the university after they have undergone psychiatric hospitalization.
Case Manager--Referral Focus: In addition to the general job duties listed above, the Case Manager for Community Linkage and Resource Development will identify community referral resources relevant to the needs of CPP students, develop partnerships with agencies to help students access and utilize needed services. The Case Manager will maintain and update the department’s referral database, as well as track, monitor, and follow-up on case management outcomes to ensure continuity of care.
Minimum qualifications include: an LMFT or LCSW and license to practice in California, knowledge of suicide assessment and crisis intervention techniques, ability to provide effective communication in person and through electronic means, knowledge of CA legal and ethical standards and ability to utilize sound judgment during therapy, consultation, and crisis intervention.
Preferred qualifications include: Doctoral degree and license as a psychologist in California preferred, and experience in supervising doctoral interns preferred.
