Summary of Position:
Responsible for helping to provide innovative leadership and direction in the development and oversight of programs, including the Bard Opportunity Program, the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Posse program, that aim to recruit and retain high-achieving, low-income students. Close collaboration is expected with offices and programs across the college, including the Bard Learning Commons, Academic Advising, the Dean of Student Affairs Office, Health and Counseling Services, and the Office of Residence Life and Housing. This is a full-time, 12-month position in Academic Affairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participation in the recruitment and admission of new students
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of a pre-matriculation summer orientation program
- Working individually with students in an advisory capacity
- Consulting and collaborating with appropriate members of the College community to develop academic and other support services for students
- Assistance with administration of program functions, budgets, and reports for the Posse Foundation and for New York State
Master's degree, experience advising and working with faculty to develop and provide services, and a minimum of 1-3 years related college or university experience is required. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent personal, oral and written communication skills; knowledge of computer software applications; and experience preparing and managing budgets and reporting to state and federal agencies.
