NASPA LKC Updates

The national conference, Bold Without Boundaries, is upon us. Are you registered yet? The conference is in Orlando from March 16-20 and LKC leadership is working on an engaging pre-con focusing on: developing a strategic plan, enhancing networks through the Comadre/Compadre Circles, and providing leadership opportunities for members (yes, this means you!) If you’re new to NASPA, this is a great opportunity to connect with folks from across the country who share similar interests and professional goals. It’s a great opportunity to share ideas and best practices pertaining to the needs of Latina(o)  students and professionals. If you’re not new to NASPA, you know how invigorating these conferences are! The conference serves as an opportunity to learn and discuss topics that matter to you, such as deferred action, first-generation issues, scholarship, etc.. Numbers matter and your participation in the conference will impact important NASPA policy initiatives. So go on and register now! You can also find people to share lodging to help reduce costs.

Not everyone can afford to attend the national conference, but you can still be involved at the regional level. You can also stay connected through our newsletter and by keeping up on our social media sites:
There are also some affordable, and local, upcoming events:

I welcome your input about activities and services that will best serve our community in Southern California, so please don’t be shy!  I will do my best over the next two years to keep you both informed and involved, but please don’t hesitate to send me a note with ideas and suggestions at any time!  The efforts of this KC can be one way to help support campuses regionally and nationwide. What do you feel our region should focus on? What kinds of issues, achievements, and programs are significant to your respective institutions and the Latina/o campus community?

I am very excited to continue the great work that the Southern California LKC has done so far. I ask you to help push this momentum forward by filling out a brief online survey geared to help gather your input in planning upcoming activities.  Please complete the brief survey by Feb. 28, 2013. The survey will only take a couple of minutes to complete and can be found here.

Finally, don’t forget to cast your vote for the LKC chair! The deadline to VOTE is Feb. 15, 2013, vote online now!

I would like to thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate in contacting me!
