The USC TRIO Upward Bound program is seeking a Student Program Advisor to join its team.

Job Accountabilities:
  • Recruitment of new participants.
  • Ensure eligibility requirements are met (low-income, first-generation, and demonstrated academic need). 
  • Recruit required number of participants before deadline indicated in grant application.
  • Conduct information sessions at assigned target schools or meet with school. 
  • Administer Academic Year Services 
  • Monitor students' academic progress through analysis of transcripts, progress reports, and test scores. 
  • Advise each student academically to ensure that A-G requirements are met. 
  • Design and facilitate workshops that educate students on matters such as financial aid, college application process, standardized test (ACT & SAT), high school graduation requirements (CAHSEE), and adjustment to college. 
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and supervision of college tours. 
  • Communicate and collaborate with the parents/guardians of program participants. 
  • Develop school/community outreach and collaboration efforts. 
  • Supervise, train, and collaborate with assigned Student Program Assistants (SPAs). 
  • Administer Summer Academic Services 
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of summer program activities. 
  • Provide academic advising to program participants. 
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of summer work program. 
  • Administer and Monitor compliance 
  • Document contact with assigned students in database and program files.  
  • Collect students' academic records such as transcripts, test scores, progress reports to verify progress toward graduation for each participant. 
  • Record all post-secondary admissions and financial aid data for graduating seniors in program files. 
  • Prepare and submit all required reports.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Program Manager The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
   
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree 
Minimum Experience: 1 year Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience 
Minimum Field of Expertise: Student personnel administration 
  
Preferred Education: Master's degree 
Preferred Experience: Prefer 2 year experience. 
Preferred Field of Expertise: M. A. in student personnel administration, education, counseling or related field
