Position Description
|
||
The
Financial Aid Counselor counsels students and their families by
providing accurate information regarding financial aid programs,
eligibility criteria, policies, and procedures. Evaluates family
financial strength to establish need and eligibility for funds and
exercises professional judgment to determine treatment of exceptional
circumstances, Serves as a member of the counseling team to establish
institutional policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
|
||
Working
knowledge of financial aid programs, policies, and procedures as well
as need analysis formulae. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply
financial aid and academic policies and procedures. Ability to exercise
professional judgment as it applies to individual student cases.
Demonstrated ability to conduct presentations to groups of varying
sizes. Ability to work effectively with supervisors, peers, faculty, and
subordinates. Excellent communication skills and a customer service
orientation. Effective written communication skills and the ability to
prepare reports, policies, and communication materials for students and
other campus constituencies.

Education and Experience
|
||
Equivalent
to a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or
business administration, or a job-related field and two years of
professional experience in one of the student services program areas
required.
