Job Summary Statement:
Athletics Peer Learning provides undergraduate student-athletes with peer learning (tutoring) services towards achieving personal and academic success at UCLA. The Athletics Peer Learning program at UCLA is jointly administered through the Division of Undergraduate Education and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics servicing more than 700 student-athletes throughout the academic year and summer sessions.
Under the direction of the Director of Student Athlete Counseling and Peer Learning, the Manager of Athletics Peer Learning Lab (Student Affairs Officer III-Supervisor) provides administration of the daily operations for the Athletics Peer Learning Program, promoting academic engagement and success of UCLA's student athletes; designing, implementing, and monitoring flexible service delivery systems adapted to the schedules of student athletes; coordinating services with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics staff, the College Academic Counselors for student athletes, and the faculty teaching targeted courses; and interacting directly with student athletes, as appropriate, to optimize their use of peer learning services. The Manager also recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates 80-100 Athletics Peer Learning Facilitators (PLFs) and 5-6 Peer Learning Facilitator Supervisors per quarter and supervises two full-time staff employees (Program Assistant and Office Assistant).
This position is in the College, with close interaction with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA), and requires the incumbent to have the ability to adhere to and comply with NCAA, PAC-12, and University rules and regulations.
