The Coordinator is responsible for promoting and
supporting the University’s mandatory orientation requirement and goals
of ensuring student success. This includes the design, development,
marketing, implementation, assessment, and oversight of programs and
services that cater to the changing needs of new students and
parent/family constituent groups. The incumbent recruits, recommends
for hire and termination, trains, leads, provides oversight and
provides input on performance evaluations of Orientation Leader Staff
and Lead Team Captains; holistically develops Orientation Leader Staff
and Lead Team Captains through the use of experiential learning, goal
setting, personal reflection, strength assessment, and comprehension of
job responsibilities; identifies placement of students on leadership
spectrum to determine individualized action plans for development,
evaluation, and success; designs, develops, and implements assessments
of student leadership development, training, and recruitments/marketing
efforts. The Coordinator recommends and implements a respective
budget including staff compensation, marketing and recruitment efforts,
training needs, and development; interacts with the most sensitive and
complex situations with a high degree of tact and persuasiveness to
maintain effective and cooperative relationships in difficult
situations; makes decisions and establishes precedence for future
situations; resolves a variety of problems that affect changes to
guidelines or policies regarding new students and current student
development. The incumbent provides lead support to the BroncoFusion
welcome event; coordinates with another co-chair of the BroncoFusion
committee to plan, develop, and implement the program, conducting
ongoing assessments to ensure its quality; maintains an understanding
of current student development and transitional issues, and sensitivity
to students with diverse backgrounds and cultures, particularly first
generation students. The Coordinator designs, develops, and
distributes all Orientation Services student and parent/family-related
marketing; designs, develops, and maintains the accuracy of the
Orientation website and online resources; designs, develops implements,
oversees, and assesses student recruitment and transitional programs
such as college/school open houses, and performs other duties as
assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience AND equivalent
to graduation from a four-year college in a related field plus upper
division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing
and conflict resolution. (A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical
Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for
one year of professional experience; a doctorate degree and the
appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a
job-related field may be substituted for three years of the required
professional experience.) The candidate will have the ability to plan,
develop, coordinate, supervise and organize programs and activities;
ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff
and the public; and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
