Graduate Internship Job Description – Fall 2015
The USC
Viterbi School of Engineering
Admission & Student Affairs Division is hiring a Graduate Intern
position in the Viterbi
Career Connections Office (VCC). The
VCC
Graduate Intern
is a 20 hour a week, paid position ($15 per
hour). The ideal candidate will have
work experience planning
programs/events, working with students and an interest in career services. Previous work/industry
experience highly desired. We
are looking for excellent
customer service, interpersonal,
communication and organizational skills.
Must be enrolled in
graduate coursework in Fall 2015.
The VCC Graduate Intern(s) responsibilities will include:

Assist with
Weekly Career Advising Sessions
°
Advise
graduate students on
their resumes and cover
letters via walk-in sessions and appointments
°
Other
areas of advisement may include: career options available
to students based
on their majors, networking,
how
to find a job, evaluating
job offers, etc.
°
Assist with
undergraduate career advising
as needed
·
Manage online
communications portal,
#ViterbiConnect
°
Update
Viterbi Connect with
new jobs and internships;
will work with student
workers
°
Work with FT
staff in finding relevant articles
°
Update
Viterbi Connect with
relevant events, information sessions and
campus-wide opportunities
·
Support
and co-coordinate VCS events: Viterbi Career
Fair, Career Conference, and
VINE
°
Assist with
logistics and planning of Fall
and Spring Career Fair, Conference, VINE and
Alumni Mentoring Events
°
Help with marketing
efforts and student recruitment for VCC
programs and events
°
Log
recruiters and companies that will be attending
Expo and VINE
·
Assist Employers with the Recruiting Process
°
Provide employers with general
information and answer questions
regarding the recruiting
process
°
Help
recruiters create new job
postings on Viterbi Career
Gateway, USC Viterbi’s online
job board
°
Assist in managing the Viterbi Career Gateway
·
Additional
Duties
°
Create
marketing materials
for events and programs
°
Participate
in developing and presenting job-search
related student workshops
°
VCC website updates
°
Assist Viterbi
Admission and Student Affairs Staff
as needed
°
Data entry, clerical
and receptionist duties
when student workers are unavailable
°
There will be occasional evening hours when the
GI is expected to work
(i.e., events, information sessions,
etc.)
°
May provide support
in other
areas as needed
