MOSTE (Motivating Our Students Through Experience), a local college access non profit is looking for college coach volunteers. You will encourage and guide a group of young, college-bound high school girls from diverse backgrounds in their college application process. The primary focus will be on their UC Personal Statements, Common Application Questions and any necessary Supplemental essays. The person applying for this position should have experience working with underrepresented populations. Must have the ability or desire to listen to the students and help draw out their personal stories, and then turn the stories into true written reflections of the student’s empowering journey to college. This is a great fieldwork opportunity for people interested in equity and access in higher education, and would also be beneficial for those interested in working with community colleges, access programs, and underrepresented students in general. Someone open and caring should apply!
You will receive all the training and resources you need from MOSTE. All college coaches are expected to participate in summer college application/writing workshops as well as workshops scheduled throughout the academic year.
