This year the USC TRiO program has the honor of hosting the 2011 SoCal Student Leadership Conference on the USC Campus on May 28th!
On an annual basis, a university or organization with a Trio Program hosts the Student Leadership Conference which serves as a platform for first generation and low income students to gain leadership skills, participate in educational workshops and engage in educational advocacy. Additionally, conference participants also have the opportunity to receive guidance and mentoring from individuals with similar backgrounds who have been successful in attaining a college education.
The conference will begin at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm. Volunteers will be assigned to shifts, and will not be required to attend the entire conference.
There is a volunteer orientation on Saturday, May 21st (this Saturday) that is strongly suggested. It will be held in the Gabilan Courtyard outside of the School of Social Work at 12:30pm
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Lauren Ford at fordl@usc.edu or Megan Pitsios at pitsios@usc.edu!
