Summary of Essential Job Duties:
- Under general supervision this position will develop, implement and assess programs, activities and services under the TRiO McNair Program.
- This program is designed for undergraduates who are first-generation and low-income college students or from groups underrepresented at the doctoral level. The LMU McNair Scholars Program encourages graduate studies by providing opportunities for undergraduates to define their goals, to engage in research, and to develop the skills and student/faculty mentor relationships critical to success at the doctoral level.
- Program development and management to include coordinating activities and services with other LMU departments and divisions.
- Design, conduct, and evaluate project components by compiling, editing and submitting program reports; preparing statistical data for the U.S. Department of Education and the University.
- Prepare for Dept. of Education site visits.
- Manage budget to achieve project objectives.
- Advise and select students regarding McNair Scholars Project to include identifying and communicating with faculty research mentors.
- Develop and implement a monitoring program evaluation and student performance evaluation.
- Providing academic and graduate school preparation counseling to McNair Scholars
- Teach seminars for scholars
- Secure additional internal and external support for the Program, including writing and submitting continuation applications
- Supervision and performance review of program employees
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Some experience in counseling, teaching, or working with students, preferably in a college setting.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of leadership development, identity development, academic support modules, early intervention modules, programming, student support, and transitional programming modules.
- Ability to develop goals, analyze and evaluate program needs.
- Ability to manage budgets and administer complex program needs.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
- Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint and other Database systems.
- Typically a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience. Ph.D preferred. Employee will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
