Values-Based
Ethical Leadership: Developing Leaders with Integrity
January 18, 2013
at 10am PST
Presented by Sherry L.
Early (Research Assistant, Dr. Christina Lunceford Higher Education & Administration
(HIED) at Bowling Green State University) and Kim Kushner (Interim
Coordinator for Student Development and Leadership at University of
Colorado)
Do as I say, not as I do;
this philosophy is not what most scholars and practitioners wish to role
model or promote in their students. Articulation of one’s values
plays an integral role in ethical leadership. As leadership
educators, the students we teach, advise, and mentor may not have been
asked to articulate their values. Having these conversations can
provide insights into students’ cognitive development and moral reasoning
so we are better equipped for educational interventions.
