Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Health and Law Professions Advising this position serves as one of the contacts for health and law professions advising with responsibility for planning, implementing and evaluating information, programs, resources, and services to assist students in the process of exploring, preparing for, and applying to health and law profession schools and to support alumni in the process of applying to health profession schools.  The Health and Law Professions Advisor (H&LPA) provides direct service delivery to students through individual advising and group presentations using a strong customer-service orientation and a solid foundation in health and law professions advising.  The position also builds relationships through outreach with key constituents including faculty and staff, parents, and professional colleagues.

  • Anticipated hiring range is $38,000 - $42,000 annually (depending on qualifications)
  • This position requires some evening and weekend work

Required Qualifications:  Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel or related field; Ability to work with students, alumni, faculty, employers, parents, and professional schools; Demonstrated collaborative approach using a team-orientation towards program design, implementation, and evaluation; Superior verbal and written communication skills for advising students; Strong group presentation skills; Well-honed skills for communicating professionally with colleagues and constituents both internally and externally; Strong planning and organization skills; Proficient computer skills; Ability to manage multiple projects, to perform effectively with a fluctuating workload, and to generate a number of different problem-solving approaches; Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction while setting priorities that accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilities.

Preferred Qualification:  Experience advising students and/or alumni in a college/university setting who are interested in health or law professions.
