Position Summary
The Wilson Commons Services Coordinator will coordinate and manage the operations, facilities, and services within Wilson Commons. This position is a member of the Wilson Commons Student Activities team supervised by the Director of Wilson Commons.
Specific Responsibilities
Support and Marketing of Wilson Commons Services:
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of Wilson Commons.
- Manage all services in Wilson Commons including The Hive Game Room and Common Market.
- Develop and manage budgets associated with each area to ensure fiscal responsibility and effective budget planning.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with all retail operations including the Mane Attraction Hair Salon.
- Supervise the Wilson Commons Marketing Intern.
- Provide knowledge of ticket operation that functions through the Common Market.
- Provide support to the staff supervisor of the Common Connection.
- Serve as a member of the Wilson Commons Student Activities Team by attending departmental meetings, community building programs, and Wilson Commons programs.
- Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate the student staff who are employed in The Hive Game Room, Common Market, and as Building Managers to ensure a successful operation of Wilson.
- Utilize student development theory to enhance student employment program.
- Develop assessment trainings and recognition programs as a member of the Wilson Commons Student Employment Team.
- Create systems to manage all reservations that are non-room related including but not limited to flex tables, info tables, banners, awareness wall, collection boxes, and display cases.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of reservation systems.
- Process all requests related to non-room reservations.
- Manage all furniture and equipment in Wilson Commons through UR Space and UR Equipment.
- Facilitate the evaluation of all student organization spaces including offices, cabinets, and storage areas.
- Serve as the liaison to Pest Control.
- Manage the office camera.
- Assist with the management of renovation and facility projects.
- Meet with departments and student organizations who are organizing large scale events in Wilson Commons.
- Oversee the accounts and processes associated with Virtual EMS.
- Stay abreast of latest trends in student unions and student employment.
- Assist in the evaluation of the services in Wilson Commons.
- Benchmark our services against comparable services in other student unions.
Bachelor's degree and one year (prefer two years) experience required. Master's degree preferred.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of student union operations, student employment, budget development, and EMS (Event Management System) preferred.
Evening and weekend work required.
