LOCATON: Student Support and Equity Programs (SSEP)
COMPENSATION: $640 per week stipend (5/28/13 – 7/25/13), additional room and board (6/21 – 7/12/13)
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Student Support and Equity Programs is seeking an energetic, motivated, and student centered individual to serve in the role of Summer Bridge Residence Life Coordinator (RLC). Summer Bridge is a comprehensive five week (3wk residential/2wk commuter) high school to college transition program for selected incoming Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) freshmen.
POSITION DUTIES:
Under general direction, the RLC oversees all aspects of the residence life experience of the students during the three-week residential portion of Summer Bridge. The RLC also provides support during the two-week commuter portion of the program including preparing program summary reports, workshop facilitation, student follow up, and Closing Program preparations and wrap-up. Duties include:
- Provide leadership and work direction for Resident Advisors (RA) and programming efforts including co-curricular activities and hall meetings.
- Coordinate daily residence halls operations; train, lead, and provide evaluation input of RA’s and residence life programs.
- Convey and enforce university and program policies and procedures to all residents.
- Coordinate room assignments, resident check-in/out, occupancy and damage reports, room change, work requests, equipment check-out, etc.
- Collect activity data and prepare program debriefing summary
Equivalent to one-year experience in the direction or coordination of group activities by working collaboratively with a diverse group of residents and staff. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Ability to understand and explain university policies and procedures; good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse constituencies. Computer literacy is required and proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
CONDITION AND DATES OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time/temporary, live-in position (during residential portion of program), with additional evening, weekend and on-call requirements as needed. May 28 – July 25, 2013.
