Loyola Univeristy Assistant Director Position

The Office of Student Life at Loyola University Maryland is currently accepting résumés for the Assistant Director of Student Life position.  We will be conducting phone interviews and representatives will be interviewing at The Placement Exchange in Orlando.  A complete job description is attached.

The Assistant Director of Student Life position offers a unique and rewarding role within the division of Student Development. A 12-month, live-in position, the Assistant Director is responsible for the total student development within a residential area ranging in size from 600 to 750 students. In addition, the AD interacts with the major processes of the office through the coordination of a secondary assignment. The AD is responsible for the supervision and advisement of Graduate Residence Coordinators (GRCs) and Resident Assistants (RAs), area programming, the development of a healthy community environment, student conduct intervention, crisis response, student conflict resolution and management, and housing operations. The Assistant Director reports to one of three Associate Directors of Student Life.

Depending on residential area,  Assistant Directors also collaborate with colleagues in the development and management of Loyola's Living Learning Initiative.  For more information regarding Loyola's new Living Learning Initiative, please visit https://www.loyola.edu/livinglearning     

We are looking for people who are interested in helping to move our office forward and lending their ideas and expertise to a student life program dedicated to the University's values of inclusion, justice, community, and a constant challenge to improve.

Qualified Candidates Will Possess:

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling in Student Affairs or a related field
  • Zero to three years of post-graduate,  professional experience in Student Affairs or related field
  • One to three years residence hall experience 
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and application of student development theory 
  • Experience with supervising paraprofessional staff
  • Demonstrated ability to support and advocate for underrepresented students as well develop opportunities dedicated to developing students' understanding of identity development, privilege, oppression, social justice, bias, and/or inclusive language/actions\
  • Understanding and appreciation of the mission of a Jesuit
