The Orfalea College of Business Advising Center serves as a peer-driven resource for students seeking academic guidance. A trained and knowledgeable staff empowers all students to achieve their unique educational goals by providing timely and effective support in a professional, welcoming environment.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Advising Services, this position is responsible for the planning, logistics, and implementation of college events including (but not limited to): the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration Program (SOAR), Week of Welcome (WOW), Open House, Parent's Program Weekend. This position works in collaboration with Dean's Office ASCI on Poly Cultural Weekend and the Orfalea Annual Awards Ceremonies.
This position is responsible for assisting with enrollment management, including communication with the Dean's Office, Area Chairs, students, and the Registrar's office to provide a clear path to graduation for the 2,500 undergraduate students in the Orfalea College of Business. This includes assisting with block scheduling enrollment for all first time freshmen, and managing specific student cohort tracks.
This individual will drive marketing efforts of the Advising Center via digital content development for the digital signage displays throughout the college and connecting to students via social media. With use of the College's Customer Relationship Management Software, this individual will be responsible for developing communication plans for the undergraduate students, and be responsive for newly identified student populations with special advising needs, including international students, first generation students, and other as yet identified populations which traditionally have lower retention rates. In collaboration with Orfalea advisor and the Dean's office will seek to increase graduation rates of the college.
This individual supports the academic advisement, counseling and support services to undergraduate students in the Orfalea College of Business, with focus in advising change of major students and assisting with implementing/tracking the change of major process.
