USC Latino/s Student Assembly, USC Academic Culture Assembly and USC Performing Arts Committee bring Bill Deresiewicz

USC Latina/o Student Assembly, along with USC Academic Culture Assembly and USC Performing Arts Committee, will be bringing author Bill Deresiewicz to talk about the negative side-effects of the culture of accomplishment that has developed in the United States that drives students to accomplish things and earn accolades without knowing why. This is particularly rampant in elite universities and can lead to college graduates who have no idea what they are actually interested in and what they want to do with their lives. Additionally, he will be touching upon the exceptions, such as underrepresented minorities, who face these same challenges but because of their culture have to deal with them in completely different ways. Here is a short overview of the issues in his book:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vihdE9os1GQ

There will be a book sale and signing after his talk.
