Programming Specialist (nonpaid)
MISSION OF DEPARTMENT
Ethnic
& Intercultural Services leads students and the university in an
understanding of interculturalism that transforms Loyola Marymount University
into a community.
POSITION SUMMARY
Primary
responsibilities include assisting
in the development, facilitating and assessing outcomes driven culturally
relevant and intentional programs and services to support student success and
engagement. Applicants must possess strong communication and interpersonal
skills as well as be comfortable speaking in front of groups as well as the
ability to assist with programs that may occur evenings and weekends as needed.
This
fieldwork position will work with staff members, undergraduate students and
guest professionals while coordinating projects and publications. This is a
hands-on learning opportunity and is a non-paid position.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's
degree required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate student status required.
- Understanding of diversity and the needs of the historically underserved and underrepresented students in higher education.
- Sensitivity to transitional issues and needs among first-year/first-generation college students.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong background in data analysis.
- Creativity and initiative are required, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to work with others to accomplish tasks.
- Highly motivated, responsible and ability to work with students is a must.
- Some
weekends and evenings will be necessary.
