USC Alumni Association Graduate Assistant



ABOUT THE USC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION:
The USC Alumni Association's mission is to support the overall advancement of USC by engaging all alumni for life, building a culture of philanthropy among the Trojan Family, and being the representative voice for all USC alumni. With more than 380,000 members worldwide, the USC Alumni Association (USCAA) supports more than 100 affiliate alumni clubs, alumnae support groups, and multicultural alumni organizations, and it distributes more than two million dollars each year in scholarships for USC students.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSILIBITIES:
The USC Alumni Association Reunions Team is seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) who will assist in the planning, organizing and execution of Reunion Weekend. The Graduate Assistant will be working primarily in the Widney Alumni House on the University Park Campus (UPC). Directly supervised by the Director of Reunions, the Graduate Assistants primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Support the planning, organizing and execution of the USC Reunions Program including Reunion Weekend
  • Plan and coordinate activities of reunion volunteer committees
  • Coordinate acknowledgment and recognition process for donors
  • Conduct research for the purpose of updating and expanding the donor base
  • Assist in developing support materials for specific fundraising activities
  • Build and maintain partnerships with staff, faculty, alumni, volunteers, donors, and vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
The USC Alumni Association encourages graduate and professional students from all programs to apply for the Graduate Assistant position. Strong consideration will be given to those with previous experience in development/ fundraising, non-profit management, event planning/management, volunteer management, higher education administration/student affairs, alumni relations and/or public relations.

The Graduate Assistant must:
  • Maintain full-time status in a USC graduate program (minimum of six units per semester).
  • Be in good academic standingas defined by his/her academic program.
  • Work approximately 20 hours weekly, every week throughout the fall and spring semesters. Some night and weekend hours will be required.
  • Serve a two-year appointment which will be renewable at the option of the USC Alumni Association after each semester.
  • Must be available all day on November 6 and 7, 2015
  • Be highly-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Google Drive

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment Date: Two academic years may also include summers (August 2015 May 2016 and August 2016 – May 2017)
Compensation: $17 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week
Start Date: Immediately
*Work study preferred yet is not required for this position
