USC Upward Bound Program--English Teacher & English Tutor

Position Title: English Teacher & English Tutor
Position Type: Fall 2015
The USC Upward Bound program is seeking HS English specialists for the 2015 – 2016 Saturday Academy program. The Upward Bound Saturday Academy program is an academic support program that meets at USC’s University Park campus on Saturdays from September to June, providing tutoring, academic advisement, college tours, enrichment courses, and SAT preparation.

Positions needed:
• 1 English 10 Teacher from 8am to 11:30am
• 1 English Tutor from 10am to 1pm

Requirements:
• Prepare and conduct assigned classes in accordance with the overall design of the
Upward Bound Program objectives.
• Commitment of 10 Saturdays from 8:00 am to 9:30 am (1.5 hours)
• Must be organized, have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess the ability to provide an engaging learning experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
• Teaching credentials
• Previous experience working with students of low income or disadvantage backgrounds.

Saturday Details:
• 10 Saturdays of Instruction
   -September 12, 2015 – December 12, 2015
• Class Sizes:
   -English 10, 25 students

Salary:
• English Teacher—$100 per diem, $1,000 total compensation
• English Tutor—$13 per hour
