The USC TRIO Upward Bound program is seeking a Student Program Advisor to join its team.
Job Accountabilities:
o Recruitment of new participants.
o Ensure eligibility requirements are met (low-income, first-generation, and demonstrated academic need).
o Recruit required number of participants before deadline indicated in grant application.
o Conduct information sessions at assigned target schools or meet with school.
o Administer Academic Year Services
o Monitor students' academic progress through analysis of transcripts, progress reports, and test scores.
o Advise each student academically to ensure that A-G requirements are met.
o Design and facilitate workshops that educate students on matters such as financial aid, college application process, standardized test (ACT & SAT), high school graduation requirements (CAHSEE), and adjustment to college.
o Assist in the planning, implementation and supervision of college tours.
o Communicate and collaborate with the parents/guardians of program participants.
o Develop school/community outreach and collaboration efforts.
o Supervise, train, and collaborate with assigned Student Program Assistants (SPAs).
o Administer Summer Academic Services
o Assist in the planning and implementation of summer program activities.
o Provide academic advising to program participants.
o Assist with the planning and implementation of summer work program.
o Administer and Monitor compliance
o Document contact with assigned students in database and program files.
o Collect students' academic records such as transcripts, test scores, progress reports to verify progress toward graduation for each participant.
o Record all post-secondary admissions and financial aid data for graduating seniors in program files.
o Prepare and submit all required reports.
