The USC Career Center serves students (both undergraduate and graduate) and alumni from all majors and professional programs across USC. The primary focus of the USC Career Center Graduate Intern position is to assist professional staff with walk-in career advising, which includes reviewing students’ resumes and cover letters, providing students an overview of Career Center services/resources and answering general job/internship search questions. The Graduate Intern will also assist our Internship Programs team with projects and events, such as Internship Week, First Generation College Student Mentor Program and diversity resources.
The
Graduate Intern will be formally trained and actively engaged in various
functions of the Career Center related to Career Counseling, Internship
Programs, and On Campus Recruiting. This is an excellent opportunity for those
graduate students interested in broadening their student advising experiences
to include career-related advising.
Successful
candidates will possess: 1 to 2 years of experience working one-on-one with
college students within peer mentoring or advising roles; strong interest in
career services; excellent customer service skills and exceptional English
verbal and written communication skills. Successful candidates must be enrolled
in a full time graduate program at USC.
Employment Details:
Compensation is $12 per hour at 20 hours
max per week. Suggested availability is 3 or 4 days a week from approximately
11:30 a.m. to 3:30 during the Spring 2015 semester, but the schedule is
flexible. Interviews anticipated to take place during the week of January 5th-9th
2015.
Work
