UW-River Falls Executive Director, Global Connections
UW-River Falls
Executive Director, Global Connections
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls seeks a visionary leader and talented manager to direct its international education unit, Global Connections. The Executive Director supervises and coordinates the work of five individuals who support the university’s short and long term education abroad programs, the university’s participation in the National Student Exchange, and the development of inter-institutional partnerships between UW-River Falls and international universities and governmental agencies. The university seeks a candidate who can facilitate
enhancements to education abroad risk management protocols and the orientation and transition programs for students participating in the programs as well as work with faculty and staff to develop new education abroad programs. The Executive Director reports to the Provost of the university and is a member of the Academic Affairs Directors Group.
UW-River Falls is in the middle of its strategic plan—Pathway to Distinction—and a primary goal of the plan is to enhance global education and engagement. The Executive Director will have a pivotal role in working with faculty members and university leadership to develop and sustain initiatives that support the strategic goal and the measures that, in part, define success. Among these measures are increasing the total number of students entering education abroad programs and increasing the proportion of UW-River Falls’ students who select semester- or year-long education abroad options, including the university’s Experience Scotland and Experience China programs.
The successful candidate will have significant background in international education and education abroad programs, including an understanding of best practices and current compliance issues related to international education. In addition, the university seeks a leader who will
collaborate with faculty and staff;
exhibit strong leadership and supervision skills;
possess a deep background in budget development and management; and
work effectively within and across units of the university.
The position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree, five years of demonstrated engagement with international education and or education abroad programs in a college or university setting, and at least two years of direct supervision of employees.
