You are invited to participate in a
research study conducted by Rossier School of Education doctoral candidates
Rick Garcia and Emily Chung, and Dr. Kristan Venegas at the University of
Southern California, because you are a presently enrolled USC master's student.
The purpose of this study is to
measure master's students' debt attitudes and assess whether attitudes towards
debt are related to certain behaviors. Your participation in this survey
will help us to improve our understanding of how master's students frame their
decisions to borrow student loans. The goal is to develop a tool allowing
financial aid and graduate admission professionals to help students borrow just
enough to complete their programs successfully and avoid extraneous debt
related expenses.
Your participation is voluntary,
and the online survey should take between 10 to 15 minutes to complete. We
will keep your records for this study confidential as far as permitted by law.
If you have any questions or
concerns about the research, please feel free to contact Rick Garcia (rcgarcia@usc.edu); Emily Chung (emily.chung.1@usc.edu); or Dr. Kristan Venegas (kristanv@usc.edu).
If you have questions, concerns, or
complaints about your rights as a research participant or the research in
general and are unable to contact the research team, or if you want to talk to
someone independent of the research team, please contact the University Park
Institutional Review Board (UPIRB), 3720 South Flower Street #301, Los Angeles,
CA 90089-0702, (213)
821-5272 or upirb@usc.edu
Many, many thanks!
