The University of Southern California seeks an organized, innovative, detail oriented advisor and administrator to play a key role in the management of graduate student services for the Critical Studies division in the School of Cinematic Arts.

The Student Services Advisor is primarily responsible for the advisement of graduate students assuring timely completion of degrees. The position is responsible for advisement, maintenance of student records, data collection and reports, curriculum development, and management of day-to-day activities within the division, including teaching assistant assignments, student counseling, and troubleshooting.

Job Accountabilities:
  • Organizes and oversees the admissions process.
  • Counsel and advise prospective students on admissions, financial aid, and academic requirements.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of graduate and undergraduate students services for a large academic unit.
  • Provides advisement for graduate students in Critical Studies.
  • Maintain academic and student records.
  • Compile statistical data and prepares reports.
  • Manages the Teaching Assistant program and assignments.
  • Assists in ceremonies and events for the division, including graduation.
  • Serves as liaison to relevant campus offices (e.g. degree progress, the graduate school, graduate admission, and registration) to assure timely completion of student degrees.
  • Manages curriculum changes.
  • Assists in the general administration of the Critical Studies Division.
