USC TRiO Educational Talent Search (ETS)
Program Description
The Talent Search program identifies and assists high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds
who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career,
and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue
on to and complete their postsecondary education. The goal of USC ETS is to increase the number
of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their
postsecondary education.
Title & Job Duties: Student Program Advisor
Assigned to a high school in Central, South Central, and Downtown LA
Provide one-on-one and group academic and career advisement to ETS students
Assist students with college, FAFSA, and scholarship applications
Assist the Academic Advisor in the implementation of workshops and other activities at the
designated school sites
Collaborate with the school counselor at assigned sites to effectively execute the program's
and school's objectives
Must have reliable transportation
Hours Available: 20 hrs/wk.
Students’ primary work location will be at the assigned High Schools
Hours must be completed during School Hours: Approx.8:00am-3:00pm and occasional
Saturdays
Pay rate: $13.00/hr. (Graduate Students)
Pay rate: $10.00/hr. (Undergraduate Students)
