Graduate Assistant (Coordinator - English Language Program), Office of International Services
Purpose: Coordinate the program for teaching English as a Second Language to members of the international community at USC
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Recruits, trains and supervises a core of volunteers (including TESOL practicum students) to teach English as a second language--beginning through advanced levels
-Selects and prepares materials used by volunteer teachers
-Teaches 1-2 classes per week
-Plans regular field trips for educational and social purposes
-Prepares mid- and end-of-semester reports on progress of the program
-Attends OIS staff meetings once a month

Knowledge and Skills Required:
-Experience teaching English as a Second Language
-Ability to coordinate materials and supervise volunteers in daily teaching of English as a Second Language
-Ability to effectively communicate with persons of diverse languages and cultural backgrounds
-Ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:
-Native speaker of English
-Some academic preparation in TESOL
-Experience supervising volunteers
Compensation: 4 units of tuition per semester and $200.00 stipend/ month

Employment Dates: August 2015 – May 2016: approximately 20 hours/week
