Veterans Resource Center Graduate Assistant

The Office of Campus Activities believes the unique Trojan experience is enhanced by activities and programs outside of the classroom. Our role is to provide a link between students’ classroom experiences to activities beyond the classroom. The Office of Campus Activities sponsors services, programs and events to educate, advocate, entertain and challenge students. Comprised of four centers, we are dedicated to and understand the importance of meeting students where they are at.

The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) in the Office of Campus Activities is a new center that’s purpose is to create and host programs to support our current Veteran students on campus. We seek to build community among USC Veterans, facilitate a smooth transition to campus, and connect students to campus partners to help with their transition and USC experience. It is also a space for student veterans to study, lounge and hold meetings.

Overall responsibility
The Veterans Resource Center Graduate Assistant works with the Program Coordinator of Campus Activities to develop and execute programs for student veterans. This includes but is not limited to Programming events to assist in the social and professional development of veteran students.

Graduate Students will:
- Oversee the daily operations of the VRC
- Assist with program development and execution
- Create bi-weekly newsletter to send out to email list
- Maintain the center’s multimedia outreach efforts, which include website, listserv and social media platforms
- Support in office coverage and provide a staff presence in the center
- Assist in the advisement to Veteran student organizations
- Collaborate with campus partners that provide services to Veteran students
- Keep organized, detail records of all VRC programs
- If interested, volunteer to help at other Campus Activities’ events
- Work with the staff of Campus Activities and the other student workers to improve the quality of student life of campus. We are all one happy team!

Qualifications: Must have strong written and oral skills; Strong preference to students that have event planning experience; General Computer Skills, including Excel; Strong organizational skills; Comfortable in a creative, autonomous, flexible work setting; Enjoy working as a part of a team; Interested and passionate about the needs pertaining to the development of student Veterans; Must be a self-starter with an eagerness to learn and problem solve. Preference for experience working with veteran student populations

Education: Must be an admitted or current Master’s level student enrolled in good standing and taking credits towards the degree as required by USC.

Compensation: The rate of pay is $12-14 per hour depending on experience, up to 20 hours per week.
