ANNOUNCEMENT – Starting
January 2015
In 2015,
the USC Viterbi
School of Engineering will undergo the
accreditation process with the
Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Viterbi’s Vice Dean for Academic Programs
is seeking
a graduate student
to support the school-level
administrative tasks
of this
year-long process.
The position is 20 hours a
week beginning in January 2015 and
continuing through December 2015.
Position responsibilities:
Serving as
principal point of contact for
department faculty and external consultants assisting
department chairs
with ABET accreditation processes and
procedures, including fielding
routine questions from departments while seeking
guidance from the Vice Dean
for Academic Programs
as needed. Assisting in the development of a calendar for department
actions, and the scheduling and coordination of the
ABET visit in Fall 2015.
Organizing
centralized hard and electronic copies of departmental materials
from the 2009 ABET accreditation visit
for reference and retrieval as needed. Reviewing and
understanding documents describing
2015 ABET accreditation
requirements and criteria.
Communicating
as needed with University
Communications concerning nonacademic changes to the
USC
Catalogue, and alerting department chairs, and the faculty
members assisting them, to pending action items and deliverables
needed to meet schedules.
Assisting
the Vice Dean
for Academic Programs
to review draft department self-study reports
as possible for consistency, clarity, and completeness with respect
to ABET computing accreditation committee and engineering accreditation committee questionnaires and criteria
documents. Communicating and following up with departments concerning
omissions or deficiencies in self-study documents.
Assisting
the Vice Dean
for Academic Programs
to update non-sensitive portions
of School-level data
needed to complete Appendix
D of ABET departmental self-study documents, and providing
department specific versions of this appendix
to
each department.
Assembling
current syllabi for basic science and mathematics courses
in the Dornsife
College that are completed by
Viterbi School of Engineering Undergraduates.
Collaborating
as needed with scholars and units in the chool providing
centralized outcomes assessment data or
other specialized data to the various
departments.
Working with individual
Viterbi departments and programs to
implement strategies with respect
to AEFIS or equivalent software based tools.
